Last day of 2013 prompt:
“Michael Hess inspired us with his three word New Year’s resolution – just be nice. We’re asking for your own resolutions in just three words. Make it count; we’ll be checking back in come 2015.”
My three word resolution: Make the time.
My 2013 was a fantastic year for love and for adventure. However, year after year I struggle with making time for my goals, mainly my writing goals. I lack structure and it’s something I need to improve on if I am ever going to finish my novel or start submitting my short stories to literary magazines. I need to prioritize and make the time for my writing. The worlds inside my head need patience and structure, and I need to make the time to sort it all out so I can accomplish one of my life goals – becoming a published novelist.
If Stephanie Meyer can write and publish several books, then I have no excuse.
That is an excellent idea…
Thank you! I think it’s important to make time for the thing you really care about, ya know? What else is life for if you can’t do that!
Happy New year to you, Ted!
Time always seems to slip through our grasp doesn’t it? I too could benefit from that resolution especially with regard to my writing. Here’s wishing you success in 2014!
Thank you and same to you!
I love this. I wish everyone would take this to heart-because it’s so, so important!
Thank you! Have a very happy new year!
I need to do this, too! It seems I don’t have time to do everything that needs to be done and writing gets bumped a lot. (I’m writing this as I’ve just spent the last 2 hours reading Trifecta entries…hmmm… 🙂 )
1 hour writing, 1 hour reading Trifecta entries? LOL.
Happy New Year!
This is another one I can claim also. Here’s hoping you achieve it.
Happy New Year, S.J.!
Best of luck to you and your writing endeavors for 2014! Happy New Year!
Hear hear! Thanks for sharing and don’t forget voting is soon open!
I’ll be there to vote!
Such an important reminder and resolution. Here’s wishing you lots of time devoted to your writing goals this year.
Thank you! To you as well!
Good for you! It’s always so easy to make time for everything and everyone other than ourselves.
I could not agree more with you. I find that not making enough time for ourselves happens sometimes because we don’t want to disappoint others.
Time is precious…happy new year.
Indeed!
I am as guilty of having “no time” as anyone else. In my mind, I am just not at a point in my life where I want it badly enough to be a published writer or else, I would make time to write my greatest priority. For now, being a teacher and father of young girls take first place in my heart. I can’t feel guilty about that. I have made my choices and have to live with them without being sad or depressed. For you, making writing time your priority is a laudable and noble goal. I wish you luck in 2014 with your book. If you want it badly enough, you will get it done and we will all be the better for having you work to enjoy. 🙂
Thank you! Your sentiments are much appreciated! I wish you all the happiest of times for you and your family for the year ahead! Maybe you and your daughters can sit down and write a story together? 😉
